Family Intervention

At its most basic Intervention is about re-establishing a healthy respectful and loving connection between the addicted person and their loved ones.

With Invitational Intervention, we move a level deeper, to address the entire family environment that may be unintentionally enabling the addiction to continue. We recognize that for the addicted person to have any hope of long-term Recovery and a fulfilling family life, what needs to be treated is a disease affecting a complete circle of family and friends – not just the addicted person.

There are no secret meetings or ambushes, the addicted person is invited to the Educational workshop and included in the process respectfully and with compassion.

The Invitational Intervention and ongoing Case Management facilitate a ‘system-wide’ change to break down ‘old ways’ of interacting with the illness that may not be helpful. We provide the necessary professional support and trauma informed coaching to families and friends, supporting them to break through the defenses created by the addiction, forging a connection between loved ones in a powerful, loving and respectful way.

At Lighthouse Recovery our team of fully trained Intervention specialists, Therapists and Coaches help motivate the addicted person to accept help, through a 1 or 2-day Educational workshop and firm, considerate coaching, working to launch the whole family system into a process of change. This workshop combines education, empathy, and practical tools, empowering families to better understand addiction, communicate more effectively, and foster healing for everyone involved.

The whole family is educated on the impact of Addiction (substances and behavioural) and the Co-Dependent behaviours that develop alongside it, encouraging acceptance of help, and establishing healthy boundaries and expectations.

The addicted person is encouraged to enter the appropriate level of treatment, and the whole family continue to take part in the ongoing Case Management programme.

This trauma informed systemic approach is family orientated and works on changing the family dynamic to appropriately discourage the addicted person from continuing their destructive behaviours.
